Emily Schaefer is a USDF Bronze Medalist who has been fully immersed in the horse industry since the age of 12. It was during a clinic in 2017 (with the late Francois Lemaire de Ruffieu), that she decided that this industry was something she would like to pursue as a career. After graduating high school, Emily started as a working student at Field Pointe Farm, meanwhile taking college courses. Clients of Field Pointe Farm were extremely generous to allow Emily many riding opportunities on various horses from greener to confirmed FEI. These opportunities have helped to shape Emily into the well rounded and not afraid of a challenge type of rider that she is today. Emily is forever grateful to those who have supported her from the beginning. A big proponent of continued education herself, Emily takes frequent lessons and rides in clinics. Emily has shown through Fourth Level, with two scores towards her USDF Silver Medal and hopes to show her own horse, Eros, in FEI classes in 2022. Currently, Emily is an assistant rider/ trainer at Field Pointe Farm in Salt Point, NY under the expert guidance of Jonna Adamsson. Emily is also operating her own business out of Field Pointe Farm, as well as, travelling to other nearby facilities.
Emily enjoys working with all breeds, ages and levels of horses. She has experience and enjoys starting and backing young horses and training them through show preparation for first horse shows and young horse classes. Emily takes a special interest in working with "problem" horses and their riders, and takes a holistic approach to work through the horse's challenges, whatever they may be. Emily also has a lot of experience working with jumping horses and their riders to better their flatwork to improve their jumping.
Emily strongly believes in creating well-rounded horses and frequently cross trains using trail rides/ hacking, cavaletti work, and lunging/longlining to keep horses happy and sound in mind and body.
Emily believes it is important to give back to her community. She has volunteered for organizations such as NEDA and Dresage4Kids.
